POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Masters Swim Club Coach is responsible for developing and leading structured swim workouts, providing stroke technique instruction, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for adult swimmers of all levels. This part-time, year-round position combines workout writing, on-deck coaching, and member engagement to enhance swimmer performance, and club culture. The Coach will ensure the safety of participants and spectators at all times. Practices are held 6pm - 7pm Monday and Wednesday evenings.

The ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner by telephone, email, and in person. Computer and keyboarding skills. The ability to deal with high volumes of people and activities. Sound judgment and conflict resolution skills for dealing with daily issues. Ensuring member, guest, community, and staff safety at all times.

This may include exposure to outdoor weather/elements, warm humid indoor conditions, and regular exposure to recreational water (pool areas). The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Essential Functions
- Keep the YMCA mission, sportsmanship and character development a core element of every
- program’s curriculum.
- Prepare and conduct 2 structured swim practices per week for advanced adult swimmers.
- Offer technical stroke feedback and encourage individual progress.
- Know risk management practices and assist in implementing throughout the department.
- Build relationships with program parents and participants to continue their ongoing
- development in YMCA programs.
- Monitor, clean, and maintain all program areas.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and special events when required.
- Assist/handle behavior, medical, and emergencies, documenting on Incident Report.
- A neat and clean personal appearance is kept at all times, following the employee handbook.
- Name tag is worn before and after class.
- Read your email every shift. (Preferably within the first hour of your shift)
