Position Overview

The Vice President of Accounting and Finance will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing the company's financial strategy, operations, and reporting. This role will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions, including payroll, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and treasury management. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with deep experience in corporate finance and accounting, and a proven ability to drive operational efficiency and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Lead and manage the Finance and Accounting departments, providing strategic direction and oversight.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team on key strategic decisions.

Payroll

  • Oversee payroll operations to ensure accuracy, compliance with federal and state laws, and timely processing.
  • Collaborate with HR to optimize payroll systems and benefits integration.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Drive the company’s financial planning, long-range forecasting, and business performance analysis.
  • Develop financial models and tools to support strategic initiatives and scenario planning.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including coordination with department leaders.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, and deliver regular reporting and variance analysis to leadership.

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP (or IFRS, if applicable).
  • Prepare and present financial statements and executive dashboards to internal stakeholders and the board of directors.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, credit lines, and investment strategies.
  • Optimize the company’s capital structure and working capital needs.

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, integrity, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and corporate financial management.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Adaptive Insights).
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of influencing at the executive and board levels.
