Position
Provide assistance to nursing staff in monitoring and caring for patients/donors during HPC collection. The HPC Collection Tech will perform granulocyte and MNC collection by apheresis under supervision and direction of HPC Apheresis Specialist, LPNs and RNs.

Position

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum six months phlebotomy experience with skilled venipuncture techniques
- CPR/BLS
- Knowledge of Apheresis equipment helpful
- Ability to work with technical equipment
- Minimum one year clinical experience
- Ability to maintain positive and professional relationship with patients, patients families, donors, co-workers and other healthcare professionals in a busy and stressfull environment with multiple distractions
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend, holidays, and call responsibility
- Ability to exercise good judgment and some self direction
- Excellent communication skills
- Donor screening for apheresis procedures
- Perform HPC/MNC collections by apheresis in OKC and Tulsa under supervision and direction of Apheresis Nurses and Medical Staff.
- Patient/Donor prep and peripheral venous access for collections
- Following training, administer PO and SQ medications under direct supervision of Medical staff.
- Proper assembly and monitoring of apheresis instruments
- Complete and accurate documentation of procedure records
- QC of HPC instruments and supplies
- Phlebotomy and collection of samples for laboratory testing
- Proper packaging of products for transport and shipping
- Patient/Donor scheduling
- Donor vein assessment
- Communicate with OBI Medical Staff, patient/donor physician, HPC supervisor, HPC processing and appropriate transplant or research team members regarding collection procedures, deviations, adverse events, abnormal or unexpected lab results, etc.
