Accounts Payable Lead - Automotive Dealership

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Lead to join our dealership accounting team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the full-cycle accounts payable process, training and supporting AP staff, and ensuring timely, accurate processing of vendor payments. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to financial accuracy, and the ability to lead process improvements in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Accounts Payable Compensation and Benefits:

Accounts Payable Competitive Salary: $27-$30 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Operations

• Lead and coordinate all accounts payable activities across the dealership.
• Review, code, and process vendor invoices, matching purchase orders and resolving discrepancies.
• Manage weekly check runs, ACH payments, and credit card reconciliations in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure all payables are accurately recorded in the appropriate accounting period and assist with month-end closings and accruals.
• Maintain and reconcile AP aging reports and vendor account statements.
• Oversee petty cash reimbursements and prepare 1099 tax forms and supporting documentation.
  
  
  

Vendor & Internal Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, ensuring prompt issue resolution and positive relationships.
• Answer vendor calls and emails with professionalism and clarity.
• Maintain organized records and files in compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  
  
  

Leadership & Process Improvement

• Provide training, support, and performance feedback to AP staff.
• Identify and implement improvements in AP processes, including opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
• Collaborate with management to ensure alignment with overall accounting goals.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience; dealership or automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role is a plus.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP), Outlook, and accounting software.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time independently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
