## Overview

Under the supervision of the Sports Director, the**Sports

Coordinator**will assist in the development, implementation, and

evaluation of all youth and adult sports, and outreach programs. The

Sports Coordinator will provide a quality experience to children and

parents that focuses on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty,

respect, and responsibility.

## Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation, development, and monitoring of all

sports leagues, recreation programs, sports, summer sports camps,

clinics, and outreach programs.

  • Monitor and maintain proper facility/field conditions and pregame

facility/field preparations.

  • Assist with the implementation of program marketing materials.
  • Assist with management of budget.
  • Assist in recruiting volunteers for coaching and seasonal

volunteers.

  • Assist in keeping field, facilities, storage areas and offices

clean, neat, and organized.

  • Create teams from registrations. Develop team practice and game

schedules.

  • Participate in orientation meetings and training clinics for coaches

and officials.

  • Responsible for updating records.
  • Alert the director of any problems as they occur.
  • Fill out and file all necessary reports in a timely manner.
  • Relate positively to members and potential members and portray a

good customer service attitude.

  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a

professional and timely manner.

  • Help identify prospects and/or solicit monetary and other donations

for the Annual Campaign or other fundraising or community events.

  • Actively participate in staff leadership activities, meetings, and

committee meetings.

  • Assist with interviews and hiring of officials.
  • Conduct surveys and write program summaries after each sports season

or major event.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants,

maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional

conduct at all times.

  • Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as requested.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and

occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of

supplies or equipment.

  • Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
  • Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to

emergencies.

  • Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work in different temperature environments.

## Qualifications

  • College degree in physical education, sports management or related

Field, Or Equivalent Education And/or Work Experience Preferred.

  • Experience building relationships with staff, volunteers, and

parents.

  • Strong public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Present a professional image and possess excellent written and oral

skills.

  • Strong desire to work with children.
  • Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire
