ISP Abandoned Vehicle Recovery Technician

Job Summary

Idaho State Police (ISP) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a part-time Abandoned Vehicle Recovery Technician. In this role, you will work closely with law enforcement personnel and tow companies to support public safety and conduct the mission of ISP.

PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination. Please review the ISP Drug Policy and ISP Grooming and Appearance Standards at www.isp.idaho.gov

Duties

  • Monitor designated areas to identify abandoned or inoperable vehicles
  • Coordinate vehicle removals with approved towing companies
  • Enter and update information in ISP databases
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports
  • May assist ISP Troopers with traffic control, cleanup, and vehicle removal on crash scenes
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, and statewide/departmental policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Idaho driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with computers and data entry

Preferred

  • Previous experience in law enforcement support, vehicle towing, or code enforcement
  • Knowledge of local vehicle codes and traffic laws

Work Environment/Conditions

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, traffic, and potential confrontational situations
  • Physical requirements include walking, standing, bending, lifting, and driving for extended periods
