Position Overview:
The Medical Records Coordinator creates and maintains resident
medical records in compliance with state/federal and HIPAA regulations for the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create files for a new admissions.
- Ensure medical records are complete, assembled in standard order, and filed appropriately.
- Locate, sign out, and deliver medical records and follow-up to ensure they are returned.
- Compile statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, and types of treatment given.
- Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data, type correspondence and produce reports.
- Restrict access to resident medical records to those staff members with a valid
- Maintain, retain, and archive files in accordance with company policy and State and Federal regulations.
- Works closely with company’s General Counsel and Director of EMR with requested resident records for legal, compliance, POA and resident requests.
- Ensure communication and notification of such requests are provided to the appropriate parties of the company prior to providing such documents or records.
- As a member of the IDT team and to ensure the care and needs of our residents are met, you may be required to support our nursing care team members by working the floor (i.e. working a med cart, providing direct resident care, wound care, etc.) during critical staffing levels.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed as a RN or LPN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
- Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.
- Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of hire; must be kept active and current throughout employment.
- One year of medical records experience, preferred but not required.
- Must hold an active CPR license or ability to obtain within the first 30-days of hire; CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.
