SUMMARY: This Accountant - AP/AR position will specialize in Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) and is responsible for recording organizational expenses, reconciling corporate credit cards, and communicating with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies. The position will play an active part in the Finance Team’s work during the organization’s annual financial audit process. The ideal candidate for this position will support the organization’s long-term sustainability by displaying attention to detail in the accounting cycle and ensuring transparent, proactive engagement with employees, vendors, and stakeholders while completing financial operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Daily Operations
- Record transactions in the organization’s financial management system
- Reconcile corporate credit cards and communicate with cardholders to address open items or discrepancies; reconcile active lines of credit
- Serve as initial requisition approver
- Take part in the annual audit process as assigned, including compiling and reviewing A/P and A/R audit test selections
- Monitor the department’s billing email and file A/P and A/R related communications appropriately
- Maintain proactive and professional customer service within the organization and with customers, vendors, and community partners
- Create and maintain policies and procedures in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ensure department and document security through appropriate confidentiality and access control practices
- Work as part of a team to implement initiatives and annual departmental strategic plans
- Assist in Finance role with fundraising events
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

- Experience with non-profit organizations, preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is required: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and basic formatting

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps, stairs and/or into planes.

- Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud.
- The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide.
- Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
