R&D Engineering Intern

NYCOA seeks a highly-motivated R&D Engineering Intern to join their team. The role works on a variety of R&D projects supporting new product development and can interact with areas such as Operations, Supply Chain and Quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Conduct research projects supporting new product development which can include:

• Performing experiments to develop new polymeric materials.
• Product development trials from bench scale through full commercial scale.
• Evaluation of manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities (cost-savings, quality issues, etc.) including data analysis on findings.
• Material characterization testing using analytical tools (FTIR, DSC, MFI, Tensile testers).
• Statistical data analysis and presentation of findings to management.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completed Junior year in Engineering by start date.
• Major in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the U.S.
• Strong scientific background to ensure effective problem-solving.
• Inquisitive nature (i.e. not afraid to ask “Why?”).
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize needs to meet project goals.
• Comfortable working in a chemical/manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer, written, and oral communication skills.
