Liberty Dental Plan is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support our growing operations!

Ideal candidates will reside near one of our office locations in Tustin, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Oklahoma City, OK, Uniondale, NY or Tampa, FL.

The Sr. Data Engineer supports the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to enable effective data analytics and reporting. This role collaborates closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions. The Sr. Data Engineer contributes to data quality, performance improvements, and technical problem-solving within an established framework.

Job Summary Details

  • Support the development and enhancement of KPIs, metrics, and dashboards by leveraging diverse datasets to deliver actionable insights.
  • Develop and enforce advanced data validation, cleansing, and reconciliation processes to maintain high data quality.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data warehouse solutions using established modeling techniques.
  • Build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines that support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams to define requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Design and implement advanced data security measures, including encryption, role-based access control, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Automate data workflows and implement advanced orchestration frameworks for scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Write, test, and maintain high-quality, reusable code in SQL, Python, PySpark or similar programming languages.
  • Distill complex business problems into technical models, frameworks, and scalable solutions.
  • Proactively monitor the performance and reliability of data infrastructure, addressing issues and optimizing systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration within the team.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
  • 6 years' related experience, including advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and data visualization tools, such as Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and Power BI)

Specific Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders at all levels as required.
  • Experience with Healthcare data not required, but highly desirable.
  • Experience in data visualization using Power BI/Tableau/Looker/Superset.
  • Proficiency of SQL, T-SQL, and tools like dbt.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts (Kimball).
  • Experience with Python and libraries such as pandas, polars Streamlit, LangChain, PySpark
  • Experience with orchestrators like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Dagster,
  • Experience with a Cloud Data Warehouse like Azure Synapse/Databricks/Snowflake/Fabric
  • Experience with dbt, LLM's like Azure Open AI/Claude/Gemini is a plus
  • Experience with BI/DW lifecycle including source data analysis, ETL, data-marts, reporting, dashboards and analytics.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Experience with AGILE methodology, desirable.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $149,000, not including fringe benefits or potential bonuses. At Liberty, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We are committed to pay equity and also consider the internal equity of our current team members when making final compensation decisions.

Please note that the range listed represents the full base salary range for this role. Typically, offers are not made at the top of the range to allow for future salary growth.
