This role focuses on the successful implementation and documentation of core services, working closely with the Director of Project Management to ensure all onboarding tasks are executed on time, within scope, and to a high standard. The Onboarding Engineer serves as a key liaison between the technical teams and the client during the transition process.

Requirements
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Director of Project Management to coordinate onboarding activities and timelines for new and existing clients.
- Serve as the technical lead during onboarding engagements, ensuring environments are configured according to internal standards and client needs.
- Conduct discovery sessions to assess infrastructure, document assets, and identify service requirements.
- Deploy and configure core managed services including endpoint protection, monitoring, backup, Microsoft 365, and other standard toolsets.
- Develop clear and complete documentation, including network diagrams, credential lists, asset inventories, and support guides.
- Provide technical orientation to clients, educating them on service scope, escalation paths, and support processes.
- Identify and mitigate risks or gaps in client environments during onboarding and escalate concerns as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers and account executives to ensure alignment on onboarding goals and client expectations.
- Execute warm handoffs to ongoing support teams, ensuring continuity and a clear understanding of client environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of onboarding workflows, documentation standards, and templates.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud services (especially Microsoft 365), networking, and endpoint management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a structured project environment.
- High attention to detail in both technical configuration and documentation.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, technical onboarding, or IT implementation roles.
- Experience in a managed services provider (MSP) environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with RMM platforms, backup tools, and PSA/ticketing systems is beneficial.
