The Finance Analyst position serves as a trusted financial partner within the organization, providing essential support in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, financial analysis, and project funding. This position collaborates with internal teams to deliver accurate insights, develop strategic financial plans, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Finance Analyst drives financial efficiency, supports informed decision-making, and aligns financial strategies with the organization’s goals for sustainable growth and operational success.

Accountabilities Include (all Focus Areas)

Performs Essential Job Duties

  • Lead the development and management of accurate budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Update forecasts regularly to reflect changes in business or financial performance.
  • Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure that budgets are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting by maintaining and analyzing financial data related to budget changes, expenditure tracking, and funding adjustments.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close processes to ensure accurate financial reconciliation and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and external partners regarding financial data, reporting, and project updates.
  • Analyze financial data to provide accurate insights that support decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls, external regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to key stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Stay updated with financial regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial processes align with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reconciliation.
  • Meet deadlines for financial reports, analysis, and project submissions, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of general ledger (GL) and revenue source accounts for effective tracking of expenditures.
  • Support audit processes, ensuring financial data and documentation is compliant with external regulatory requirements.

Required

Education and/or Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, OR 3 years of proven experience in a financial setting, OR a combination of education and experience in a financial setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, including creating financial models and analyzing large data sets.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases for querying and managing financial data.
  • Experience with financial forecasting, variance analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven knowledge of financial compliance standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and federal/state regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent presentation, reporting, and verbal/written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to promote reconciliation and achieve positive outcomes in challenging interactions.

Preferred

  • Experience with membership financials, including enrollment, retention, and cost analysis. 
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools to create financial reporting (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar). 
  • Skilled at using financial and accounting software for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting purposes.
