
Position : Porter
Position Overview
The Porter
will play a vital role in maintaining the building's cleanliness, safety, and
overall appearance in compliance with New York State labor laws. This position
involves general cleaning, light maintenance tasks, and ensuring a welcoming
environment for residents, tenants, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
*Cleaning
and Maintenance*
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in common areas,
hallways, staircases, and lobbies.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, elevators, and other
shared spaces.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, windows, and furniture as
needed.
- Remove trash and recycling from designated areas and
ensure proper disposal.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and
toilet paper.
Building Appearance and Safety
- Maintain the cleanliness of building entrances,
sidewalks, and exterior areas, including snow and ice removal.
- Immediately report any maintenance or safety concerns
(leaks, broken fixtures, or hazards) to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of cleaning
supplies and chemicals by safety guidelines.
*Support
Services*
- Assist with setting up and breaking down for events or
special functions within the building.
- Respond to tenant or management requests promptly and
courteously.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies
and request replenishment as necessary.
*Compliance
and Teamwork*
- Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and New
York State labor laws, including break and rest period guidelines.
- *Collaborate effectively with other
staff members, such as maintenance workers and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in janitorial, custodial, or porter
services is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting
to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and working in various weather
conditions.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.

Schedule*
- Flexible schedule based on the building's needs,
including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Regular breaks provided in compliance with NYS labor
laws.
