ROANOKE VALLEY RESOURCE AUTHORITY
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (RVRA) is seeking qualified candidates for Director of Community Engagement.
The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (RVRA) consists of four Member communities: the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, the County of Roanoke and the Town of Vinton. Our mission is to provide environmentally sound solid waste disposal in the most cost-effective manner to our members, residents and commercial haulers.
The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for building and fostering meaningful relationships between RVRA and its community and regional partners in the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, Roanoke County and the Town of Vinton by facilitating communication, organizing community outreach initiatives, gathering feedback, and developing and leading engagement efforts on various RVRA projects. The Director of Community Engagement will also serve as the spokesperson and media relations expert for the RVRA. The Director of Community Engagement will report to the RVRA Chief Executive Officer.
Required Skills And Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field and experience in community engagement, public relations and media relations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in social media management and digital communication tools.
Strong project management skills to plan and execute community engagement initiatives.
Experience with media relations, public speaking and presenting information to both small and large groups.
