Position Overview

The Junior Motion Designer is responsible for creating dynamic graphics for Mythical content across multiple platforms. They will play an important role in maintaining the visual identity throughout Mythical’s properties. This role reports to the Design Director, and works closely with the Design Department, Production Department, Post Production Department, and Social Media & Marketing Department.

Job Activities

  • Conceptualize, design, and deliver motion graphics including main titles, lower thirds & transitions using After Effects
  • Design compelling thumbnails for digital platforms like YouTube in the Mythical voice
  • Design prints for physical set pieces and props using Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Collaborate with producers and writers to source and design assets for all stages of production
  • Organize, sort, and label graphics & photography projects
  • Sometimes photograph marketing assets, including but not limited to behind-the-scenes photos and YouTube thumbnails
  • Produce brand & marketing assets within Mythical properties’ existing design aesthetics
  • Occasionally operate video playback during shoots
  • Sometimes collaborate with the E-Commerce Department and design marketing materials.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in After Effects
  • High-level expertise in Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Strong foundation in color theory and typography
  • Thorough understanding of the pre-production, production, and post-production processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while remaining highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can embrace autonomy and take initiative to creatively solve design problems
  • Basic understanding of DSLR cameras


Skills & Experience

  • Thorough understanding of Google Suite, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Mac OS
  • Research assets online, including stock photos and reference materials for mood boards, etc.
  • Some experience with project management software like monday.com, Asana etc


All applications MUST include a link to a website or a portfolio exemplifying your work. Portfolios/websites should include at least 3 examples of motion graphics as well examples that demonstrate proficient knowledge in Photoshop compositing. Traditional 2D character animations and storyboards are not considered relevant work.
