JOB SUMMARY
The Admissions Specialist/Advisor performs responsible student support and administrative duties relating to Admissions and Enrollment Services. Positions also work collaboratively with Recruiters to secure enrollment from prospective students.
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is an open enrollment institution with students accepted year-round. Admissions Specialist/Advisors provide students with guidance, information and answers regarding admissions, enrollment, and academic programs and degrees, as well as information about enrollment in academic programs with selective admission requirements (i.e. Health Sciences programs) at one of the CCC’s college campuses.
Positions working in the Transfer Center assist in coordinating, scheduling, and executing activities and events designed to help students plan and prepare for a successful transition to four-year institutions. Performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Admissions
- Contacts and meets with prospective and new students to answer questions and provide information on admission requirements, academic programs including those with selective admissions requirements, and general expectations.
- Works with and assists students in completing on-line applications and program-specific applications and in completing related enrollment procedures and registration activities.
- Provides information to prospective and current students on selective admissions academic programs requiring specific pre-requisites, test scores, and/or other requirements (i.e. Health Sciences, Associate in Engineering Science, and an Associate in Fine Arts).
- Conducts thorough and timely review of selective admissions applications and supporting documents for specific programs to ensure proper completion and submission in compliance with program’s enrollment requirements.
- Serves as a point of contact between applicants to academic programs with selective admissions requirements and program directors throughout the admissions process. Informs prospective students of application status and requests for additional documents.
- Creates and updates records, and scans documents to track applications and support documents. Forwards complete applications to appropriate academic departments.
- Maintains contact with prospective students to inform them of application status and to communicate deadlines for submitting any additional documents.
- Tracks student participation from application to enrollment by using various data tracking systems. Uses Eventbrite to schedule new students for orientation.
- Conducts new student orientation sessions, introducing CCC and its academic programs, policies, and student support services. Ensures new students schedule appointments with College Advisors and Financial Aid.
- Gathers information from prospective students who did not enroll via individual interviews, focus groups, and other means to better understand our value proposition, marketing, and customer service.
- Works collaboratively with Recruiters, Registrar’s Office and other key stakeholders to create a seamless transition from application through enrollment and registration process.
- May organize and schedule tours of campus for high school students and conduct follow up and outreach activities to encourage prospective students to apply.
- Prepares various reports regarding admissions and enrollment activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Three years of work experience in student services, preferably at a community college
- Positions working with selective admissions programs are required to have work experience relating to the program of study
- A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials, provided the minimum degree requirement is met
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent communications and customer service skills
- Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Salary Information: $51,954 - $53,512 annually
Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities
