Under general supervision of the Store Manager and/or the Retail Management Team, the Sales Floor Manager
is accountable for the overall management and direction of the processes associated with the day-to-day
functions of the sales floor. Upholds company standards throughout all customer and donor areas of the store
(inside and outside), remaining aware of customer and donor needs, and monitoring and ensuring fast,
accurate, and friendly service at cash registers, on the retail floor, and at point of donation.
Store Operation

Sunday), evening and holiday hours customary to the retail trade.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
Other Skills And Abilities
Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles to accurately maintain basic store records as well as general knowledge of Microsoft office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook). A good working knowledge of or ability to recognize and learn the value of brand name apparel and other merchandise sold in the Goodwill store.

any employee engaged in sorting credentials but are not required.

- Ensures store performance meets financial targets and key metrics based on annual and quarterly operating plan(s).
- Continually monitors and sets the pace of work.

- Responsible for dressing room and bathroom cleanliness.

- Prioritizes and directs team member activity.
- Schedules supervisors and team members for cash register, sales floor, to meet customer/donor demand.
- Continuously assesses the sales floor, and directs team member activity, to ensure that standards are met.
- Informs team members of operating plan targets and progress against targets.
- Monitors sales, items sold and operations labor hours regularly throughout each shift to ensure efficiency targets are met and determine the need to increase, decrease or reassign staffing.
- Identifies sub-standard departments &/or categories and takes action for resolution.
- Receives and responds to customer questions, requests, and complaints.
- Processes exchanges, special customer needs, and team member purchases as needed.

- Ensure proper cash management including enforcement of cash register procedures and submission of required reports.

- Monitor customers to limit/prevent losses including compliance to bag policies, potential ticket swapping and theft. Determine potential needs on sales floor including greeters and/or receipt review at main entrance.
- Maintains a safe work environment through education, consistent follow up, ensuring policies and procedures are in adherence.
- Partners with Store Manager on safety issues and solutions.
- Protects company assets and information by ensuring their safe handling, security and integrity.
- Manages cash and tender controls. Performs morning accounting and banking procedures as needed and ensures all supervisors are trained to execute this procedure to standard.
- Proactively promotes loss prevention awareness by upholding procedures and ensuring policies are in place.
- Ensure store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards and that safety, health and emergency procedures are understood and followed by all store employees.
- Ensure that designated staging area is utilized for "Z" racks that are filled with merchandise to be hung on the sales floor. Ensure that empty "Z" racks are removed from the sales floor immediately. Keep all aisles, corridors and production areas free of clutter and unobstructed to provide building occupants with a clear path to exit building in an emergency situation. Instruct staff to keep the sales floor free of hangers and other trip hazards. Secure sharp objects such as knives in a secured area for display. Ensure that breakable objects are handled carefully and are properly displayed.
- Ensure that ice melt is spread on all sidewalks and pathways used by customers and staff when weather conditions create potentially slippery conditions prior to the store opening and throughout the business day, as necessary.
- Prepare and submit work orders, as necessary, particularly to address immediate safety concerns.
- Ensure that all suspicions or allegations of fraud are reported and investigated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the store is opened/closed daily, as per scheduled hours.
- Ensure proper operation of security and safety systems, including but not limited to, proper maintenance and use of door locks, alarms, safe, fire extinguishers and office door; bank deposits made on a nightly basis; thorough and timely completion of incident reports/1st Report of Injury; adherence to all cash management policies and procedures including voids, credits, refunds, etc.; and conducting quarterly fire drills and internal safety inspections, as required.
- Leads, directs, and supervises the work of supervisor(s) and retail sales floor team members.
- Regularly interacts, trains, coaches, and counsels the supervisors and team members. Provides recognition and candid feedback. Addresses complaints and solves issues.
- Identifies and develops high potential team members for supervisory and management positions through on-the-job, guided work.
- In the absence of the Store Manager, fulfills their responsibilities and oversees the entire store as acting Store Manager.
- Assist the Store Manager in interviewing, hiring, training and directing the activities of store personnel to provide an efficient and effective work force. Maintain positive morale of work force.
- May plan, assign and direct work for employees and community service workers, volunteers and work crews, as required by Store Manager. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and applicable state and federal law.
- Assist the Store Manager in scheduling employees to ensure adequate coverage to meet production, customer service and safety and security needs of the retail operation.
- Ensure proper adherence by store employees to Goodwill of Southern New England policies and procedures. Seek assistance in dealing with infractions or unusual situations from supervisor or Human Resources, as appropriate. Report any infractions or unusual situations to the Store Manager.
- Complete store reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Employee will be required to perform bank transactions necessary to store operations, e.g. depositing daily receipts, securing rolled coins or specific denominations of bills, etc., and must have access to transportation for travel to/from designated bank.
