The Component Painter performs supervised paint related tasks on aircraft parts and components in a safe and clean work environment according to technical publications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customers’ expectations in the Avionics/Instruments/Accessory areas. In addition, this position performs miscellaneous duties needed in the shop such as fabricating placards, and backing-up the shop assistant.

Essential Job Functions

  • With minimal supervision, mixes paint, prepares, masks, paints, plates and applies high temp coatings to parts and components in a safe and clean work environment according to technical publications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customers' expectations.
  • With minimal supervision, details finished items including sealant, placards, markings, etc. as needed. Keeps placard stock at useable levels and fabricates new placards as needed.
  • Completes appropriate documentation and updates the needed information in the work order system.
  • Maintains and orders stock, paint and supplies needed to perform the job. Monitors expiration dates of materials to ensure usability.
  • Maintains shop paint equipment and facilities by changing filters, cleaning, repairing or replacing paint equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.


Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: Respirator fit eligible
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs., occasionally lifts 100 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; works in confined spaces; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments


Education And Experience

Component Painter I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous painting or related experience preferred


Component Painter II:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of aircraft accessory or related painting experience required


Component Painter III:

  • Technical related training or equivalent required
  • Five years of painting or related experience required
