Job Description

The College and Career Program Manager (CCPM) is responsible for overseeing and leading the college and career readiness programs for middle and high school students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s (BGCPBC) teen-serving Clubs. The College and Career Readiness program focuses primarily on helping middle and high school members achieve academic success and graduate from high school on time, fully prepared to pursue their college or career plans.

This position serves in a leadership capacity as part of the program team, managing staff performance, grant compliance, and budget adherence. The position requires annual program development, monitoring and tracking of grant outcomes, deliverables, analysis of data reports, and grant reporting.

The CCPM provides program leadership and training to all college and career program facilitators (Career Bound Managers, Career Bound Teachers and Teen Specialists) who are responsible for implementing all aspects of the program at their assigned Club site. The College and Career Readiness Program comprises Academic Enrichment; Career Exploration and Planning; College Readiness; Workforce Readiness and 21st Century Skills; Service-Learning and Club-based Employment. The CCPM also provides guidance to other peers (Program Managers, 21st Century Project Directors and Corporate Partnerships Manager) to ensure grant outcomes and deliverables are met.

Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities)

Program Development

  • In collaboration with VP of Programs and Director of College & Career Readiness, develop an annual College and Career Readiness program that delivers on organizational objectives and funder commitments.
  • As part of the organization’s continuous quality improvement efforts, the CCPM will monitor the quality of program delivery, review planned versus actual outputs and outcomes and modify activities as appropriate.
  • Identify and vet opportunities for new workforce development programs.
  • Research, identify and implement a college and career readiness data tracking system.
  • Develop and execute a credentialing and/or badging system to denote members’ acquisition of skills and knowledge upon completion of curriculum or other workforce readiness experiences.
  • Remain informed about BGCA workforce readiness and service-learning initiatives by routinely accessing www.BGCA.net. Remain apprised of current research in these fields and advancements made at other BGC sites throughout the country to deliver a ‘best in class’ program in Palm Beach County.

Program Management

  • Work in collaboration with Executive Club Directors and Assistant Club Directors in delivering the optimum program by helping with the design of the best program schedule for the participants at each site.
  • Help create an inclusive career and college readiness culture with Club Leadership, Club Staff, programs team and members.
  • Monitor processes for data collection, program evaluation, and grant reporting. Ensure that all Club staff are trained to administer assessments and properly collect, store and report data to BGCPBC teams and funders.
  • Monitor the achievement of college and career development goals set in the organization’s strategic plan.

Staff Management

  • In collaboration with the Executive Club Directors, hire, onboard and provide ongoing professional development opportunities to Career Bound (CB) Managers ensuring that they are carrying out their functions as designated in the CB Manager job description, which includes managing the Teen Specialist and Career Bound Teachers and overseeing Youth Volunteer Corps (one of BGCPBC’s service-learning program) and year-round Junior Staff employment programs.
  • Partner with the STEM Program Manager, Cultural Arts Program Manager, SEL Program Manager, 21st CCLC Project Directors to elevate career readiness programming at all BGCPBC teen-serving sites by infusing academic and workforce readiness programming throughout all program areas.
  • Support the VP of Marketing and Business Development and Corporate Partnership Manager in their efforts to research corporate sponsorships and help solicit donations to sustain and grow the programs and/or internship opportunities. Work with the marketing team to ensure effective marketing of the program.
  • Work with Chief Administrative & Financial Officer, VP of Programs and Grant Financial Specialist in monitoring annual budgets, receipts, and disbursements of grants, staying within budget parameters, and provide timely corporate, federal, and state reports to the Resource Development team.
  • Work in collaboration with AmeriCorps Program Manager in making sure national service volunteers (AmeriCorps members) and Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) participants are supporting all college and career readiness programmatic goals and objectives at their sites.

Relationships

  • Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with volunteers, staff, and supervisor to receive/provide information and discuss issues.
  • External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools’ external staff and volunteers, donors, and others to recruit or to assist in resolving challenges.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory experience required.
  • 5+ years of workforce development experience required.
  • Experience developing and effectively managing large scale projects or initiatives with impactful results.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends, when needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create positive and professional relationships with other employers, vendors, funders, and donors.
