Reporting to the Director of Creative Studio Operations, the Interactive Producer ensures the smooth execution of daily project operations within the creative studio. This role is essential to the successful delivery of best-in-class experience design, blending digital and physical elements across design/build/technology projects. As a key member of the Design team, the Creative Producer is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing project execution—ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and within scope.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:

Client & Strategic Alignment

  • Understand client goals, deliverables, and strategies to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary client contact for design and content/development scope—owning communication around scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Maintain the day-to-day client relationship, proactively identifying evolving needs and ensuring they are addressed.
  • Lead and document execution strategies for design and interactive technology, in close partnership with Project Management and Creative Directors.
  • Define project scope collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with ECDs in developing scopes of work for proposals in partnership with Sales and PMs.

Project Leadership

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects (ranging up to $2.5M annually) from concept through software development.
  • Lead development of integrated design timelines aligned with broader project schedules.
  • Own and implement detailed workplans in collaboration with CDs and PMs, ensuring milestone clarity and accountability.
  • Act as the central hub for design and interactive tech scope, aligning internal and client-facing teams.
  • Oversee task assignments and maintain steady momentum toward deliverables.
  • Monitor scope, address risks and delays, and initiate timely change orders to protect project margins.
  • Lead and promote cross-functional coordination to ensure successful integration of interactive elements.
  • Communicate proactively to manage expectations around timeline and budget, escalating difficult issues when needed.
  • Model effective leadership consistently demonstrating professionalism, diplomacy and strong skills in both communication and conflict-resolution.
  • Lead collaboration with Practice Directors, Creative Directors, Project Managers and Technical Producers, to ensure alignment and accountability exists across all project phases.

Scope, Budget & Resource Management

  • Monitor project performance metrics monthly and evaluate progress toward short and long-term goals.
  • Develop and share comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead resourcing strategy in collaboration with the Operations Manager and CDs to align talent with project needs.
  • Track design hours and budgets vs. estimates, reporting insights and participating in weekly capacity reviews.
  • Manage client-requested scope changes with PMs and Technical Producers, initiating change orders as needed.
  • Oversee subcontract/vendor relationships, including scoping, contracts, POs and invoice approvals.
  • Work with Creative Studio leaders to build and assign project teams with the right expertise for successful delivery.

Process, Tools & Quality Assurance

  • Use Wrike and other tools to manage schedules, time tracking, assignments, and review documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with DI’s creative frameworks (e.g., Explore, Design, Make); schedule Design Intent Preview (DIP) meetings.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts by gathering feedback and assigning clear action items.
  • Champion continuous process improvement and operational efficiency across the project lifecycle.
  • Follow internal protocols and advocate for improvements where needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in fast-paced, creative environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client-facing conversations
  • Proven experience managing mid-to-large scale design and technology projects, particularly those integrating physical and digital experiences
  • Solid understanding of the creative process within the built environment and previous experience in a creative or design-focused field
  • Collaborative, process-oriented, and proactive problem-solver
  • Adaptable with a strong team-player mindset
  • Quick to learn new tools and systems
  • Receptive to feedback and direction, with a growth-oriented mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools like Smartsheet
  • Willingness to travel 10–20% annually, or as needed

Education/Certifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 3+ years managing medium-to-large-scale design or digital production projects
