Role Overview
Outer Biosciences is seeking an Automation Engineer to be a key contributor to building data generation pipelines around our biological skin models. This includes data acquisition pipelines for automated plate readers, imagers, and qPCR, as well as incorporating liquid handling robotics for upstream processes.

Role Overview
Outer Biosciences is seeking an Automation Engineer to be a key contributor to building data generation pipelines around our biological skin models. This includes data acquisition pipelines for automated plate readers, imagers, and qPCR, as well as incorporating liquid handling robotics for upstream processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing data acquisition scripts on automated plate readers, plate imagers, and qPCR equipment.
- Work with data science and engineering teams to integrate lab automation workflows with LIMS
- Collaborate with scientists to develop automated image analysis scripts
- Identify workflows for liquid handling automation, work with lab team to incorporate solutions and validate procedures
- Identify, design, and build custom jigging and other hardware to assist in streamlining lab tasks and automation process
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar engineering discipline
- 2-5 years post graduate experience preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Hands-on experience with lab automation equipment (i.e. Hamilton, Tecan, Agilent, etc.)
- Proficiency in automation scripting
- Experience integrating lab automation workflows with LIMS
- Experience in mechanical design using CAD and prototyping with additive manufacturing
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across diverse teams and projects.
