The role

We seek an exceptional academic to join our dynamic School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Edge Computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious researcher and educator to carry out cutting-edge research and teaching in this fast-growing area, making use of our world-class facilities. You will be a part of a wider microelectronics research community that is pioneering transformative edge computing solutions to realise the full potential of the Internet of Things, including design and implementation of energy-efficient hardware, embedded machine learning and sensor-integrated nodes for the edge of the network.

What will you be doing?

You Will Be Expected To

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of Edge Computing and Internet of Things with a special focus on hardware and publish high-quality outputs.
  • Pursue external funding opportunities and develop collaborative research networks.
  • Supervise postdoctoral research associates and postgraduate research students.
  • Design and deliver teaching material that inspires the next generation of engineers and computer scientists.
  • Play an active role in school activities and academic citizenship.

You should apply if

  • A PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or another relevant subject.
  • A developing (or established) research profile with publications in high-quality venues.
  • Experience of or commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative ethos.

Salary: Grade J £42,882 - £48,149 per annum;

Grade K £49,559 - £55,755 per annum;

Grade L £59,139 - £66,537 per annum
