Duties Description

Reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner of External and Legislative Affairs, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of External and Legislative Affairs’ duties include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as the agency’s primary liaison to local human rights commissions, community-based organizations serving protected classes, and other relevant stakeholders;
• Representative of the agency in partnerships with sister state agencies including DOL, DCJS, OPDV, DOS, OPWDD and other stakeholders with missions to serve protected classes;
• Facilitating events on behalf of the agency and supporting co-sponsorship of relevant events with stakeholder agencies;
• Promotion of agency events and media and analysis of various aspects of outreach coordination;
• Creation and compilation of the agency’s annual report and other public-facing materials illustrative of the agency’s programs;
• Supervision of external relations staff and oversight of staff supporting agency events;
• Support consultants working on agency branding and initiatives;
• Active participation in agency procurement of relevant supplies and materials pertaining to external affairs; and
• Perform any additional tasks as needs arise.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
