Job Summary
The Cath Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective resource management, and compliance with regulatory standards. Under the direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Services, this role manages staff, budgeting, and departmental workflow to support optimal patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.

Job Summary
The Cath Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective resource management, and compliance with regulatory standards. Under the direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Services, this role manages staff, budgeting, and departmental workflow to support optimal patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Oversees daily operations of the Cath Lab, ensuring optimal workflow and staff performance
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain clinical and operational standards
- Collaborates with the Director of Cardiovascular Services to align department goals with organizational objectives
- Manages the scheduling and allocation of personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, maintaining a safe and effective patient care environment
- Develops and manages departmental budget, focusing on cost containment and resource optimization
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for process enhancement and staff education
- Acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, and other departments to facilitate communication and resolve issues
- Provides leadership in emergency situations, ensuring timely response and effective crisis management
- Maintains documentation of departmental performance metrics and reports outcomes to leadership
- In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular procedures, equipment, and patient care protocols
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, patients, and physicians
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and data management
- Ability to analyze financial data and develop cost-effective strategies
- Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning and staff development
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management preferred
- Current state RN license or compact state equivalent required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Certification in Leadership or Cardiovascular Specialty preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in cardiovascular cath lab required
- Leadership or management experience in a clinical setting preferred
