Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Direct Care Staff member to work with adolescent females aged 10 to 14 within a structured therapeutic milieu. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and a safe environment for our residents as they navigate their personal challenges and work towards emotional and behavioral goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Support:
    • Provide direct supervision and support to adolescent females in a residential setting.
    • Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents.
  • Therapeutic Engagement:
    • Implement and participate in therapeutic activities that encourage personal growth, self-expression, and team-building.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the therapeutic team.
  • Behavior Management:
    • Monitor and document resident behavior and progress, addressing any issues in a calm and constructive manner.
    • Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Life Skills Development:
    • Teach and reinforce daily living skills, including personal hygiene, cooking, and time management.
    • Encourage residents to participate in group activities and promote healthy relationships among peers.
  • Communication:
    • Maintain open and effective communication with residents, families, and team members.
    • Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Crisis Intervention:
    • Respond appropriately to crisis situations, ensuring the safety of residents and staff.
    • Participate in crisis intervention training and apply skills as needed.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in a therapeutic or residential setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with youth.
  • Understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to engage in physical activities such as running, walking, and lifting as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Capacity to handle the emotional intensity of working in a therapeutic environment.
