Compensation
The estimated pay for this position is $18.8265 to $23.1542. This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses.
Definition
Under supervision, to perform specialized support activities requiring knowledge and experience in the area of assignment. Duties might include: assist with a variety of functions related to the administration of the Hospital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS); export and import images for outpatients, Ortho and Surgery clinics; assist different areas of the Radiology Department with calls, paging, faxing, making copies, filing, printing schedules; and, training radiologists in different imaging archiving programs.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The PACS Administrator Assistant is distinguished from other clerical support classifications by its specialized support activities requiring knowledge and experience in the different imaging management computer programs needed in the Radiology and Imaging Department. The PACS Administrator Assistant provides support to the PACS Administrator and to other technologists of the different modalities within the Department.
Essential Functions
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, AND three years of clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Essential Functions
- Monitor and manage the function and workflow of the PACs system to include worklists for QA issues.
- Exports and sends images electronically or on cd/DVD’s for patients throughout the day.
- Imports cd’s and digital images/film as requested throughout the day.
- Manages Radiology records to include digital, paper and film.
- Sends digital images using various platforms to include faxes and electronic reports to outside facilities ensuring outside provider reports are sent in a timely manner.
- Prints daily Mammography schedules, prepares documentation needed for the appointments, including requesting or importing and scanning in priors.
- Scans mammography patients’ letters and BIRADs into PACS throughout the day.
- Assists in providing images for PowerPoint presentations for radiology conferences.
- Assists radiologists with calls, paging, faxing, and making copies.
- Answers incoming phone calls throughout the day.
- During the weekends, calls in the on-call te as needed.
- Provides imaging records management support for Health Department’s requests.
- Provides imaging records management support for legal cases.
- Provides computer systems training and assistance to the radiologists (PACS, Powerscribe, Electronic Medical Record).
- Assists the technologists with any PACS related issues as needed (which include merging of exams and accession numbers during and following downtime).
- Performs other duties of similar nature or level as required.
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, AND three years of clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Additional Requirements
Some Positions May Require:
- Possession of a Valid California Driver’s License
- Certification of Transcription speed of 45 net words per minute
- Proficiency in the use of word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
