About This Role

We’re seeking a Director of Operations for the Carrier Climate Solutions Transportation plant in Athens, GA. The incumbent must have an excellent command of manufacturing in an assembly environment. We need your experience and knowledge of supply chain flows and various materials management technologies including MRP, JIT, Kanban, and single piece flow, lean line architecture. These skills along with your willingness to embrace continuous improvement will ensure success as we evolve our operating model and position the business for rapid growth. You’ll be the site leader and a key member of the global Operations leadership team.

Drawing on your experience and ingenuity, we’re looking for a leader who can motivate their team to provide stellar work across all functions and in the manufacturing workforce. You will have complete ownership of manufacturing operations across the plant including planning, organizing, staffing and controlling of manufacturing in order to achieve short- and long-range goals (schedule reliability, quality improvements, expense control and productivity improvements).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team to produce high quality products with competitive costs and lead times
  • Optimize plant resources including the facility, equipment, inventories and people
  • Continuously improved methods, processes and facilities to raise productivity, improve ROI and achieve lower cost with full regards for the health, safety and well-being of employees
  • Create and implement strategies in alignment with corporate strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus to deliver the business plan commitments
  • Drive a culture of change and continuous improvement and lean concepts in everyday operations improvement
  • Lead by example & ensure effective implementation of programs leading to minimization of occupational injuries and elimination of violations related to safety and health (including Industrial Hygiene) regulations
  • Optimize production capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Create a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with all plant employees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related manufacturing operations experience OR a Master’s Degree with 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
  • MBA
  • Management experience in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Proven talent development skills, able to engage, develop and motivate team members
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, strategic leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to execute operationally and strategically, developing strategy and the plan, along with ability to drive execution
  • Creative approaches to problem resolution and the ability to influence individuals and groups in terms of implementing change
  • Demonstrated negotiating skills with major supply agreements, effectively leading cross-functional and multi-organizational teams
  • Accomplishments in leading business process improvement efforts working with third party logistics providers with specific and measurable results
  • Understanding of the building of effective supplier and logistics networks with strong business and financial skills.
