A Sorter Operator is an individual who aids plant staff in preparing material for processing, baling, inventorying, and shipment. They are familiar or can become familiar with a fast-paced manufacturing environment and working safely.

AMP is hiring a Sorter Operator in Portsmouth, Virginia.
A Sorter Operator is an individual who aids plant staff in preparing material for processing, baling, inventorying, and shipment. They are familiar or can become familiar with a fast-paced manufacturing environment and working safely.
As our Sorter Operator, you will work to:
- Segregate various materials including cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum in a fast-paced environment.
- Keep the plant and areas clean of debris.
- Clean equipment as needed.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive training for new employees, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Must be flexible
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to stand for eight or more hours with the occasional need to bend or squat
- Ability to operate in a high speed and fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 45 pounds repeatedly
- Able to follow instructions as directed by the supervisor
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
