Starting Rate: $20.17/Hour

(Part-Time 20 hours/week)

Under the direction of the Manager of Arts and Event Services, assist and support the Community Engagement team with a variety of arts, events and tourism related tasks. The primary role is to assist with venue and program management for the cultural incubator program. This is a year-round, part-time position that will be an average of 20 hours/week, which will include some weekends, holidays and/or evenings.

Examples Of Work To Be Performed

  • Primary point of contact for rental inquiries and servicing at the Farr Best Theater and Wallace-Hall Art House.
  • Work with external customers for venue rentals, ticket sales, event questions, and general customer service.
  • Manage regular operations tasks, including but not limited to, scheduling maintenance, cleanings, marquee updates and contractual staff for the Farr Best Theater and Wallace-Hall Art House.
  • Share on-call duties.
  • Represent the Community Engagement Department at events throughout the area by driving and displaying our art truck.
  • Assist with program and venue marketing tasks such as creating brochures, web content, social media content, and videos for the cultural arts department.
  • Supports the overall efforts of the Community Engagement team including administrative duties.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and strong communication skills to understand and identify customer needs and communicate value.

Required Education, Training And Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation

Desired Training And Experience

  • Education and/or experience in venue management, performing or visual arts, arts administration, customer service, special events or communications.
  • Experience in using a variety of software platforms and hardware systems for administration and marketing of facilities and events.
  • Operational knowledge of technical theatrical equipment, including audio systems and theatrical lighting is desirable, but not necessary.
  • Experience using variety of software including Adobe Suite, Canva, and social media platforms preferred
  • Some graphic design experience preferred

The Physical Requirements Of This Position

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
  • The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.
