LOCATION: Day Habilitation, Haverhill, MA
SCHEDULE: 40 Hours/week; Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00 pm

The Behavioral Health Clinician assists Individuals to modify their behaviors in order to maximize their participation in life.

Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and coordinate behavior management strategies (Behavior Plans, Guidelines, Restrictive interventions, biopsychosocial, and Positive Behavior Support Plans. Ensure data collection is maintained consistently and summarized quarterly.
- Provide modeling and training to staff in implementing behavioral supports and protocols.
- Provide counseling and support to Individuals.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the Individuals and family members.
- Oversee and coordinate crisis management supports across assigned ID/DD/ABI programs. Coordinate pertinent communications with other community and facility-based health care providers/networks.
- Ensure compliance with DDS, CARF, MH and MRC regulations and standards. Develop and revise policies to coincide with regulations and standards.
- Screen new referrals to identify psychological, behavioral supports needed.
- Regular communication with Program Managers and direct care staff in order to monitor mental health status, identify potential problems, and promote preventive strategies, along with the Director of Behavioral Health Services to discuss any emerging situations that may need additional supports or guidance.
- Plan and assist in behavioral/psychiatric crisis response and follow-up care.
- Communication with psychiatrists, therapists and other health care providers, as needed, to promote quality behavioral health care for Individuals.
- Review and interpret data taken on a monthly basis.
- Assessment of challenging behaviors and/or emotional status as necessary, via visits to meet with Individuals, observe interactions between staff and Individuals, and assess the implementation of behavioral interventions.
- Attend psychiatric visits during unstable periods to consult regarding behavioral status.
- Attend professional meetings and conferences periodically to update and refresh skills and knowledge.
- Provide advice and assistance in developing agency policies which affect mental health and behavioral treatment planning.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) year’s experience.
- Licensed or currently eligible for licensure within 30 days from hire as a LCSW, LICSW, LMHC or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or other related discipline is preferred.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injuries strongly preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of behavior modification and ABA principles.
- Demonstrated skill in designing and implementing all stages of PBS supported Assessments, Guidelines and Treatment Plans for Individuals.
- Ability to motivate direct support staff and leaders during time of change and growth.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word).
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with minimum of 1 year driving experience.
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to travel locally within the Merrimack Valley/Lowell area.
- Ability to work extended/flexible hours to accommodate designated program needs and on-call support meetings/trainings/audit preparation needs.
