Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Forklift Operator III to safely operate a powered industrial truck in a high-volume, outdoor inventory environment. This role involves handling and maintaining over 500 pallets of materials, inspecting and organizing incoming and outgoing inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The ideal candidate is physically agile, safety-conscious, and experienced in forklift operations and material handling.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift to move, organize, and manage inventory consisting of 500+ pallets
  • Perform daily inspections of the forklift and complete inspection logs
  • Receive and inspect pallet shipments from suppliers
  • Sort and store returned pallets from the production facility
  • Conduct physical inventory counts twice weekly and report findings
  • Identify and sort damaged pallets; load them into trailers for return
  • Use manual pallet jacks for internal movement of empty pallets
  • Maintain cleanliness of the yard and surrounding work area, including manual removal of debris and sweeping using forklift attachments
  • Manually lift pallets weighing up to 50 lbs multiple times per day

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety rules and housekeeping standards
  • Report any accidents, injuries, unsafe acts, or conditions immediately
  • Wear required PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection, Kevlar gloves, etc.)
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures before maintenance or jam clearing
  • Use proper lifting techniques and know the location and use of fire safety equipment
  • Keep the machine and work area clean and free of hazards
  • Ensure all tools are maintained in proper working condition and report issues promptly
  • Be cautious while navigating around conveyor rollers; use crossovers when available

Job Qualifications

  • Valid forklift operator license; annual 4-hour recertification required
  • Certification in Safe Work Practices with yearly 1-hour training
  • Ability to operate forklift professionally and safely in an outdoor setting
  • Strong coordination and physical ability to frequently twist/turn neck and torso
  • Basic math skills for inventory counting and verification
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for self and others
