Field Engineer - California High-Speed Rail Project

Location: Fresno, CA

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience

Company Overview

Join a team at the forefront of building the California High-Speed Rail, a transformative infrastructure project connecting the state's Central Valley. Our company is proud to lead Construction Package 1 (CP1), which spans 32 miles from Madera County to Fresno County, encompassing major viaducts, tunnels, grade separations, and river crossings.

Role Overview

As a Field Engineer reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing project planning, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to construction schedules and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans and develop construction schedules in alignment with project-wide activities.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors for material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
  • Assist in obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
  • Prepare construction work plans and coordinate pre-construction meetings.
  • Monitor field construction activities daily, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety protocols.
  • Administer subcontractors and material suppliers, managing correspondence, submittals, and performance records.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, schedule updates, and assist in change order management.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders including owners, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment, enforcing workplace safety standards.
  • Resolve site conditions and coordinate permit applications as necessary.
  • Manage project close-out activities in collaboration with clients and third parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in Heavy Civil projects, with a minimum of 3 years in similar roles.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, federal & OSHA requirements.
  • Familiarity with project controls, including cost accounting and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with scheduling software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in teams.
