Laurel Ag & Water is looking for a self-motivated, experienced Fleet Manager to join our growing team. As a key member of the Operations Team, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing the maintenance, safety and operational readiness of both owned and rented vehicles and equipment that supports our construction and field operations. This role is essential to ensure that all assets — whether owned or leased — are reliable, compliant, and ready to perform in a fast-paced environment. This role will be reporting to the CEO.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet maintenance program for all owned and rented vehicles and equipment.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and report on fleet-related expenses, seeking ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure all fleet operations comply with industry regulations and standards (DOT, OSHA, DMV and rental agreement requirements). Manage vehicle registrations and ensure compliance with the DMV Pull Program to proactively monitor driver records and license status.
  • Safety Management: Develop and implement safety protocols for vehicle operation and maintenance. Conduct regular safety training sessions for drivers and maintenance staff. Investigate and report any accidents or safety incident.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed reports to management on fleet status, budgeting, schedules, maintenance, and safety compliance
  • Vehicle Acquisition: Research, purchase, or lease new construction vehicles and equipment, ensuring they meet the company's needs and budget.
  • Maintenance Management: Schedule regular maintenance and urgent repairs for all fleet vehicles to prevent downtime and ensure compliance with safety and emission standards.
  • Fleet Logistics: Coordinate the transportation of vehicles to and from work sites, manage fuel consumption, and oversee proper storage and housing of vehicles.
  • Monitor vehicle usage and performance.
  • Develop methods to decrease costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is up to date and properly maintained.
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams on accurate job cost allocation and create internal focus on high asset utilization rates.
  • Schedule and track preventative maintenance and repairs for both company-owned and rented assets.

What You Will Need

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, mechanical engineering, business management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, vehicle/equipment management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance or operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gas-powered vehicles, heavy equipment, and fleet maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and DMV regulations, including DMV Pull Program administration.
  • Experience with purchase/rental/maintenance of accessory construction equipment (trenchers, generators, compressors, ATV's)
  • Proficiency with fleet management software, maintenance tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Willingness to travel 20–50%, depending on location and business needs.
  • Comfortable working in both field and shop environments; adaptable to a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • High energy, approachable, analytical, and results-driven with a “hands-on” leadership style.
