Position: Decision Support Specialist - Full-Time - Financial Planning

Compensation

The estimated pay for this position is $32.5348 to $40.0137. The rates shown include a 6% premium pay (base= $-$ plus 6%). This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into the Kern County Employees’ Retirement Plan.

Definition

Under direction of the Vice President of Administrative Services, the Decision Support Specialist performs a wide variety of analytical duties in support of a departmental service or program, including financial modeling, capacity analysis, performance preparation, forecasting and budgeting. Assists in identifying and leading continuous improvement projects within departmental projects or throughout the hospital.

Essential Functions

  • Works with accounting, clinical, operations, and other finance staff to analyze a variety of information such as legislation, proposals, budgets, expenditures, documents, etc.; updates and/or develops financial work papers accordingly.
  • Conducts studies to include determining scope, planning, organizing, compiling, analyzing, and making recommendations.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to clients, customers, other agencies and department staff in area of expertise; serves as a subject matter expert in finance, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Participates in and/or chairs committees, meetings and task forces.
  • Develops, administers, coordinates and evaluates continuous improvement programs/projects.
  • Creates and maintains databases for tracking a variety of information; utilizes and maintains electronic records and files; accesses and utilizes database computer systems; and performs basic typing and computer tasks.
  • Prepares and gives presentations with needed.

Employment Standards

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field, AND;
  • One year of sufficient experience to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, OR;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
