The Opportunity: Mach3 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Engineer to develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes within our dynamic job-shop environment. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of machining operations, process optimization, and lean manufacturing principles. You will work cross-functionally to ensure our manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, meet rigorous quality standards, and consistently exceed customer expectations.

Process Development And Optimization

  • Develop and optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Design and implement process flow, job routing, work instructions (including specifying appropriate inspection tools), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machining operations.
  • Generate lean and efficient manufacturing plans for machined assembly processing.

Customer Focus

  • Work closely with customers to understand their technical needs and requirements, ensuring all manufacturing processes align with customer specifications.
  • Act as a technical liaison between the company and its customers, providing technical support and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Participate in customer visits and audits, showcasing the company's capabilities and commitment to quality.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through production, eliminating process interruptions and meeting budgets.
  • Coordinate with design, production, quality, and other departments to ensure successful project execution.

Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical guidance and support for machining operations, including CNC programming, tooling selection, inspection equipment, and fixture design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to machining processes and equipment.

Lean Manufacturing And Continuous Improvement

  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Six Sigma and other quality improvement methodologies

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with quality standards and specifications.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality-related issues with the Department Lead.

Leadership And Mentorship

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, estimators, and production staff on machining processes and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Cost Management

  • Analyze and manage manufacturing costs, seeking opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new products and process changes and assist in generating quotations when overflow assistance is required – daily quotation meeting and assignment

Safety And Compliance

Ensure that all manufacturing processes adhere to safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on job shop machining.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining processes, including CNC programming, tooling, inspection, and fixture design.
  • Manufacturing plan creation and documentation.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation, as well as an understanding of Quality Control inspection.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior engineers and production staff.
  • Comfortable engaging with customers in technical and support settings.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand,and walk throughout the shop
  • Lift at least 25 pounds infrequently
