Assigned duties include researching, analyzing and reporting of key quality, performance measures in support of department related initiatives. Utilizes internal and external data sources to support these improvement initiatives through performance monitoring and benchmarking. Participates in maintenance of department scorecard, physician profiles and quality reports.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years relevant experience
Experience: Experience in statistical PI, quality or other clinical effectiveness related functions in hospital setting or clinical experience preferred
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written or verbal communications skills. Knowledge and skills in data management/information systems required, knowledge of quality improvement and statistical analysis preferred. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to plan and organize work to meet time requirements. Demonstrated ability to work on team projects. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

- Participates in obtaining desired outcomes data and in department efforts to meet performance goals.
- Monitors performance improvement activities and/or coordinated PI data collection analysis as directed by the health care team/committee/medical staff.
- Builds data collection and analysis tools on an as needed bases to support improvement projects or identified strategic initiatives.
- Develops customized reports and data solutions, supporting current quality and performance improvement projects and other strategic initiatives as directed.
- Applies appropriate statistical analysis to data sets based on project demands as assigned.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all files and records.
- Coordinates, receives and or compiles data for physician profiles.
- Serves on medical staff and hospital committees and teams as needed in various capacities. Assures that medical staff committees are supported as necessary. Acts as recorder in committees/teams as necessary. Assists in follow up committee/team activities. Ensures medical staff PI activities are appropriately performed. Assists in other PI activities as necessary.
- Assists with site specific JCAHO prep activities. Assists with JCAHO and other regulatory bodies in coordinating site specific activities, related to surveys and follow up activities.
- Accountable for organizing daily activities, work assignments or processes. Communicates and supports Carilion and divisional policies and completed projects on time. Ensures the preparation of monthly report of significant activities of area.
- Establishes solid working relationship with Clinical Informatics, Decision Support and other quality/performance related departments/staff; enabling access to ad hoc, controlled reporting to support quality and performance improvement projects, and other strategic initiatives as appropriate.
