Primary Function/Purpose

The Quality Assurance and Improvement Specialist audits processes to ensure standards, regulatory compliance, and contractual guidelines are adhered to. This individual will have the ability to disseminate significant amounts of information with great attention to detail and accuracy. They must possess exceptional organizational and analytical skills, in addition to the ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently while meeting deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Health, Psychology, Sociology, or Human Services required
  • A minimum of three years of prior experience in quality assurance is required
  • Excellent data accuracy skills with high attention to detail are critical
  • Ability to maintain unbiased findings and reports, with an attention to detail and policy is also required
  • Critical thinking, analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills as well as resourcefulness
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage tasks efficiently
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks assigned with acceptable follow-up skills while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Ability to work within a team or independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills
  • Work to resolve issues in a proactive, respectful, and positive manner
  • Utilize good judgment and discretion in the handling of confidential information
  • High level of computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as Adobe, internet navigation, and the ability to learn new technologies and databases

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct program audits and assist with funder audits to verify compliance with internal and external regulations
  • Perform initial and continuous file reviews to ensure staff adhere to record-keeping and file organization standards
  • Provide quality assurance for case management input and charting in client-based data systems, including CARES and other databases
  • Collect and validate statistical information from CARES and other required databases to ensure accuracy
  • Observe client database managerial reports regularly to identify trends, gaps, and compliance risks
  • Work closely with the Director of Continuous Quality Improvement & Program Development to monitor compliance issues and successes, ensuring timely workflow and program continuity
  • Report compliance concerns, overdue service plans, contact lapses, missing progress notes, and staff malfeasance
  • Liaise with program staff to train, correct, and or clarify inaccuracy, and report findings to the Director of CQI & PD
  • Must travel to program sites and provide team members with on-site coaching and technical support as needed
  • Maintain a secure, organized, and accessible archive of all program data and documentation
  • Provide continuous staff training regarding charting, regulatory guidelines, agency and program policy and procedures
  • Coordinate with CQI & PD team to develop and implement best practice policies and procedures, forms, and evaluations
  • Contributes to the overall success of the organization by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned, and being able to pivot with ever-changing priorities and newly added job-related responsibilities that arise based on business changes, needs, and demands
  • Some minimal general Tech support and New Technology support may be required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (including Physical Demands)

  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule
  • Traveling throughout various locations in the New York City area
  • Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds several times a week
