Overview And Essential Job Functions
The Assistant Controller provides organized and detail oriented professional services for full cycle accounting support within the Finance division. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller and finance leadership in managing the accounting operations for Acumen, as well as companies that are contracted with Acumen, LLC. In addition, the Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting team and will collaborate with departments to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.

Overview And Essential Job Functions
The Assistant Controller provides organized and detail oriented professional services for full cycle accounting support within the Finance division. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller and finance leadership in managing the accounting operations for Acumen, as well as companies that are contracted with Acumen, LLC. In addition, the Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting team and will collaborate with departments to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Supervise staff, provide oversight
- Lead analysis of all financial statements and records/transactions
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and yearly close
- Identify risk factors, analyze and create trend information related to the business unit
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department; spearhead strategy and goal-setting initiative within accounting department
- Tax Reporting and compliance: payroll, property, sales, and income tax filings
- Cost accounting for GL postings, fixed assets/depreciation, cost-center allocations, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities
- Balance Sheet reconciliations and transactional review
- Review and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly AR, AP, and Cash reporting
- Assist with AP, AR, and Tax functions and reconciliation as needed
- Maintain the integrity and administration of the accounting system. Ensure compliance with established controls; assess and modify internal controls to decrease the risk of misstatement
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and training; provide timely feedback to the team, as well as other departments, and managers
- Review and analyze processes and issues; assist team in developing proactive processes for effective and efficient resolution
- Engage in special projects related to software migration and technology adoption
- Work closely with executive management and managers to achieve company’s strategic objectives
- Prepare for and attend meetings with Executives, managers, internal departments, and external customers
- Correspond with banks and other agencies for issue resolution and responses to inquiries in a professional manner
- Develop and implement cash management and forecasting strategies to optimize the company’s cash position, including monitoring cash balances and ensuring efficient cash utilization
- Payroll reporting and payroll tax reconciliation
- Interface with auditors and coordinate preparation, resources, and responses for audits
- Meet the contractual commitments to client(s) through timely and accurate reporting and issue resolution
- Update and maintain policies & procedure documentation
- Other duties as assigned as part of the Acumen Financial Management team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in billing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical skills,
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- proficiency in billing software.
- In-depth knowledge of billing regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex issues.
- Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to improve processes.
