Schedule: This is an in-person position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM with evenings and weekends often required.

Wage Range: $25.85 – $30.40 hourly, non-exempt

Position Overview

The Youth Program Coordinator supports Native American youth ages 10–24 in the greater Portland area by providing culturally relevant prevention, leadership, and mentorship programming. The goal is to reduce risks related to substance use, suicide, and other behavioral health challenges by fostering resilience, identity, and positive connection to culture and community.

This position requires a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to working with youth, their families, schools, and other systems. The Coordinator will also provide cultural advisement across departments, contributing to a culturally safe and supportive environment for both youth and adult clients. The role includes collaboration with Oregon’s nine tribal youth prevention teams and participation in statewide prevention gatherings and camps.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain supportive, culturally responsive relationships with Native youth and their families.
  • Coordinate services in collaboration with treatment providers, offering wraparound support such as care management, transportation access, and childcare resources.
  • Develop and lead cultural and prevention-based youth activities in partnership with tribal communities.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly Youth Nights, cultural events, and wellness programming.
  • Serve as a representative of NARA NW at tribal youth prevention gatherings and statewide camps.
  • Provide cultural advisement across NARA programs to support culturally safe practices for youth and adult clients.
  • Assist in data collection, evaluation activities, and timely completion of grant reports.
  • Complete training and certification in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
