Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled optometrist to join our team in Bellingham, Mount Vernon, and Smokey Point. This role is ideal for an optometrist who enjoys working in a surgical referral environment, with a focus on pre- and post-operative care for cataract and glaucoma patients.

You will play a key role in patient education, diagnostic evaluations, and co-management with our fellowship-trained ophthalmologists, while helping to maintain and grow relationships with referring providers in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive medical eye exams and advanced diagnostic testing
  • Educate patients on diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care for cataract and glaucoma surgeries
  • Collaborate with top-tier optometrists and ophthalmologists in a patient-centered, MD/OD-integrated model with a focus on cataracts and glaucoma
  • Support referral network and maintain communication with external optometric physicians and community providers
  • Maintain detailed and timely EMR documentation
  • Attend continuing education and training to enhance professional growth and development

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited program
  • Active Washington State optometry license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience or strong interest in surgical co-management, particularly cataracts and glaucoma
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
