The Public Relations Specialist plays a key role in enhancing our visibility, promoting our mission, and building strong relationships with media, partners, and the community. This role supports the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives that increase awareness, drive engagement, and cultivate public trust in our programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement public relations strategies that align with the organizations mission and goals.
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media kits, op-eds, newsletters, and other external communications.
- Foster and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and community partners.
- Monitor media coverage and track PR campaign performance using analytics tools.
- Coordinate and support media interviews, speaking engagements, and public events.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
- Manage crisis communications in coordination with leadership when necessary.
- Maintain an up-to-date press contact list and media database.
- Represent the organization at public forums, events, and community initiatives when needed.
- Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- 24 years of experience in public relations, communications, or nonprofit media relations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong media relations experience and comfort working with press and reporters.
- Proficiency with media monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision, Google Analytics).
- Knowledge of senior care, healthcare, or nonprofit human services is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a team-player mindset.
- Experience in nonprofit or healthcare-related PR.
- Familiarity with storytelling for impact and fundraising campaigns.
