Description

We are seeking a dynamic, tech-savvy Internal Communications Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This individual will play a critical role in driving employee engagement, promoting culture, and ensuring our people feel informed, inspired, and aligned with Verus’s strategic direction.

This role will own the planning and execution of company-wide communications forums—including town halls, leadership updates, internal newsletters, and our intranet—while also leading communication efforts for major initiatives, internal campaigns, and cultural storytelling. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong project management skills, technical fluency in digital content tools, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategy & Planning
  • Partner with HR and other teams to develop and execute internal communication strategies that support business priorities and culture initiatives.
  • Manage the calendar of internal communications, ensuring timing, consistency, and alignment across channels.
  • Create and maintain governance and best practices for company-wide messaging.
Company-Wide Communications
  • Plan, organize, and execute regular all-company communication forums, including town halls, business updates, and executive announcements.
  • Develop templates, run-of-show guides, and Q&A structures for leadership communications.
  • Manage and update the company intranet (WordPress), ensuring content is timely, relevant, and engaging.
  • Draft, edit, and publish internal content such as newsletters, FAQs, intranet articles, and talking points.
Campaigns & Engagement Initiatives
  • Lead internal campaigns tied to initiatives like wellness, open enrollment, DEIB efforts, and employee recognition.
  • Coordinate content for key calendar moments and employee experience touchpoints.
  • Support HR in amplifying performance reviews, learning programs, and engagement survey communications.
Change Communication
  • Own or support comms for major organizational changes (e.g., system rollouts, restructures, policy updates).
  • Ensure change messaging is clear, consistent, and supportive of transparency and trust.
Content Creation & Tools
  • Create multimedia content including short videos, infographics, presentation decks, and email templates.
  • Leverage tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, basic HTML, and video editing platforms.
  • Explore and recommend new tools and channels (e.g., Teams integrations, podcasts, internal blogs) to improve engagement.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, HR, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with strong attention to tone, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • Experience managing company-wide communication forums and internal content calendars.
  • Proficiency in WordPress or other intranet/CMS platforms.
  • Comfortable with tools for visual content creation and video editing.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating during change management or high-growth scenarios.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working in hybrid or remote workplace environments.
  • Familiarity with employee engagement or HR tools (e.g., CultureAmp, Microsoft Teams).
  • Understanding of employer branding, DEIB communications, or corporate social responsibility is a plus.
