Position Overview
The Site HRBP will be responsible for the Ecoservices Hammond, IN site. In this role the HRBP will consult with the Plant Leadership team, key stakeholders and employees, to support and provide recommendations on strategic and tactical HR solutions and programs that improve business outcomes. The incumbent will also support broader HR strategic objectives beyond Hammond as needed.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and Execute HR and business strategies
- Ensure compliance with employment laws
- Engage with site management/leadership and shared functions to ensure operational decisions are aligned with business priorities, HR philosophy and strategic direction
- Influence decisions from operation management that are consistent with appropriate risk recognition/mitigation and relevant labor law
- Maintain a strong partnership with talent acquisition and engage with site leadership to align on recruiting needs.
- Coordinate with Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and Talent development on issues within the area of responsibility
- Provide training and support to managers and supervisors regarding their responsibilities in performance management, HR and business-related topics
- Assist managers in developing site organizational structures and roles that align with department goals, culture and corporate standards
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Union and work with them towards resolving grievances, while supporting a positive relationship
- Conduct detailed investigations into complex issues and influence operating management on recommended corrective action with a strong focus on root cause analysis
- Work closely with management and employees to continually improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources/labor relations or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant HR Business Partner experience supporting union and nonunion manufacturing operations, preferably in the oil or chemical industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all audience levels
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple ongoing issues and priorities
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong investigation and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Basic level of business acumen to translate business needs to HR initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, and human resources
- Solid understanding of employment laws and NLRA to perform the responsibilities of the position
- Previous grievance management and negotiations experience
