The Senior Director, Operations is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and supervising the functions and activities of the community of Group Model sites at Optum. Develops and monitors goals, implements and manages budgets, oversees enrollment growth and retention, patient satisfaction, program development and implementation and education. Also assists the Senor Vice President, Operations in the overall administrative direction of the region and standardization of programs and services across the communities within the Region. Collaborates with medical leadership to maximize performance and implement and monitor new programs and services.

What Work Will Look Like
- Strategic, financial and operations management (P&L responsibility above 100M)
- Strategic growth and patient retention
- Patient care coordination, patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes

- Risk management, audit and compliance
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
- Develops, implements, monitors and ensures adherence to policies and procedures for Optum and its Group Model sites
- Leads development, coordination and implementation of the regional budget, business plans and operational activities
- Monitors and reports metrics such as resource utilization, patient satisfaction, HCC, PFP and STAR and enacts plans to improve efficiencies and reduce expenses
- Works closely with central departments to ensure that issues impacting the region that involve central departments are resolved effectively and timely
- Collaborates with the physician leadership of the Group Model to garner support for operational initiatives and obtains feedback on what initiatives will be most successful and works closely to implement and monitor programs
- Develops and executes market growth strategies for the region
- Leads special projects and initiatives specific to the Community or across Communities
- Implements plans to continually enhance services provided by the region
- Evaluates opportunities, makes recommendations and oversees expansion projects within the region
- Manages direct reports to ensure that they are meeting performance expectations; mentor, coach and counsel as necessary
- Provides guidance in professional development activities and goals
- Assists, facilitates and leads committees, teams and projects at the direction of the Vice President, Operations
- Works to promote teamwork, collaboration, implementation of best practices across all communities within the region
- Collaborates with colleagues in other regions to improve performance and coordinates activities to ensure goals of Optum are met
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years and 10+ years of relevant work experience preferably in healthcare
- Driver’s License and access to a reliable transportation
- Medical group or IPA operations management experience
- Experience in managed care organizations
- Computer literate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Proven leadership abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and subordinates
- Ability to act professionally under pressure
- Results-oriented
