Position Overview

The Director of Marketing and Ecommerce will be responsible for architecting and executing the end-to-end marketing strategy for our client, driving brand awareness, customer acquisition, and ecommerce performance. This role spans digital and traditional channels, with a focus on leveraging new media, innovative technologies, and bold creative thinking to stand out in a competitive market. With a deep understanding of the industry and a sharp eye for opportunity, you will partner closely with executive leadership to define our marketing roadmap in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Your leadership will directly influence our position in the market, enabling scalable demand generation, eCommerce growth, and long-term customer loyalty. You will be responsible for building and guiding a high-performing marketing team while aligning all initiatives with business goals and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Marketing & Ecommerce Strategy:

Develop and own our holistic marketing strategy-online and offline-with a focus on generating revenue, brand awareness, customer engagement, acquisition, and retention.

Lead strategy and execution for all digital marketing channels including PPC, SEO, email, retargeting, social media, display, affiliate, content marketing, and shopping feeds.

Explore and pilot emerging media formats (e.g., influencer marketing, live shopping, interactive content, new ad platforms, AI-based personalization tools) to drive customer attention and engagement.

Establish and manage ecommerce strategy, including customer journey optimization, site performance, and conversion rate improvements.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of marketing and ecommerce professionals, including acquisition, content, creative, analytics, and ecommerce operations.

Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.

Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, IT, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure consistent messaging, alignment of goals, and seamless execution of cross-functional initiatives.

Brand Building & Market Positioning

Shape and protect our brand identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.

Develop compelling campaigns that highlight our value proposition-premium quality at unmatched prices.

Create positioning that differentiates us from established players (e.g., Grainger, Uline, Fastenal) and retail competitors (e.g., Lowe's, Home Depot).

Digital & Demand Generation

Drive growth through digital channels including SEO/SEM, email, paid advertising, social media, and retargeting.

Leverage new media tools and channels to differentiate us from competitors, bring B2C tools into B2B and vice versa

Manage and optimize the marketing funnel to improve conversion rates and reduce customer acquisition cost (CAC).

Leverage marketing automation and CRM platforms to execute high-performing campaigns.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

Conduct ongoing market research to assess customer needs, competitive dynamics, and pricing strategies.

Translate insights into actionable marketing plans and go-to-market initiatives.

Team & Budget Oversight

Recruit, develop, and lead a results-driven marketing team.

Manage departmental budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources across brand and performance initiatives.

Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, and operations to align marketing efforts with business execution.

Analytics & Reporting

Define key marketing KPIs and provide regular performance reporting to executive leadership.

Continuously test, measure, and iterate on marketing initiatives to maximize ROI and effectiveness.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, in B2B or B2C, ecommerce, industrial, or high-growth environments.

Proven track record of owning and scaling digital customer acquisition channels in a performance-driven culture.

Hands-on experience with ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus), marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and martech stacks.

Strong creative sensibility combined with deep analytical skills-comfortable moving between brainstorming sessions and performance reviews.

Experience managing in-house teams and outside agencies or contractors.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA a plus).
