About This Opportunity
Are you a college student interested in broadcasting and/or journalism? We’d love to consider you for a paid internship in our Yakima Bureau. Interns will learn all aspects of our industry, from creating and telling stories on television to how to present news across websites and social platforms. There will be a special emphasis on photojournalism and editing. This isn’t a “sit back and watch” internship. You’ll get real-world experience that will prepare you for a career in this field. You’ll be a part of our tight-knit news team and will set up live shots in the field and shoot video of breaking news, community events and other stories. We’ll teach you how to operate our camera equipment and also how to turn an interview and some b-roll into compelling news content to air on TV and digital platforms.
Ideal candidates will be able to work various shifts, working 32 – 40 hours per week for 8 weeks.
Requirements
Students must attend an accredited University, College, Community College or Vocational-Technical Institute.
Students must be at least 18 years old. Students in their Junior or Senior year of college are preferred.
Students must be in good academic standing.
While KAPP/KVEW Apple Valley News Now considers the internship program a valuable tool for observing the student’s talents, skills and abilities, it is understood that there are no guarantees of future employment.
Pay And Benefits
Pay range: $16.70/hour – $16.90/hour
Benefits: We offer interns 401(k) participation if eligible and 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked.
