The primary purpose of this position is to train and teach staff in accordance with policies. Works directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The instructor assists administration in assessing, planning, implementing, tracking and evaluating educational in-services.
- Prefer an RN with Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing experience to provide our team members with an exceptional orientation to ensure they are successful in their roles.
- This educator will also continue to provide education to our existing team members annually and on-going as needed to ensure competency, assess compliance, introduce or reiterate our policies, procedures and expectations related to our platinum service standards.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent presentation skills, be organized, approachable, adaptable and have the ability to make team members feel welcome and valued.
- Develop, plan, conduct, and schedule effective training classes that provide instructions on position tasks, satisfies in-service and orientation requirements.
- Provides continuing education training as able for the facility staff.
- Manages staff certification and education to meet state survey requirements.
- Maintains in-service attendance records, competencies, classroom and make-up work, and curriculum and test inventories.
- Periodically review the policies and procedures and make recommendations for revisions. Monitor that staff comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
- Partner with other departments in planning the training programs, curriculum, and activities.
- Utilize adult principles of learning and approved effective teaching techniques.
- Promotes and performs continuous evaluation of programs.
- Counsels and advises staff regarding policy, behavior, and/or attendance issues. Documents counseling sessions and conferences them with the Director of Nursing prior to and following any incidents.
- Maintains a professional educational setting which enhances the education programs.
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which training assignments will be accomplished.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning clinical supervision for CNA’s and other departments.
- Administer and maintain staff immunization program.
- Provide personal protective equipment to staff when performing procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
- Maintain a work environment that is clean and presents a professional image.
- Participates in staff reviews by observing performance and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing/Executive Director for action and monitoring.
- Develop clinical training assignments and ensure completion and performance of such assignments.
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the subject field. Evidence of proficiency in Instructional methodology strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Applies and accepted for state CNA instructor and tester if applicable.
- Must possess a current and active license to practice as an RN in this state.
