Description
Team Fishel, the Best Choice in Utility Engineering, is hiring Outside Plant / Inside Plant QA/QC Inspectors to support QA/QC and Fiber Conduit/Manhole Audit Projects in Virginia, Georgia, Colorado, Texas, Arizona and other areas to be determined for our Professional Services Group (PSG). This position is based in Chesapeake, VA and will require (80%) travel to assigned project areas. Previous OSP Inspection experience is required.
The QA/QC Inspector will be responsible to ensure that all client installed facilities (OSP/ISP) are up to the outlined standards and specifications through on-site inspections. They will provide oversight to 3rd party contractors on active construction sites and generate reports with pictures of day-to-day progress and complete milestone inspection-checklists per the client's requirementsYou will be required to coordinate with on-site contractors and customers on a regular basis. The inspector is to report to a remote supervisor/Project Manager and assist with electronic entries of data collected in the field. The working schedule is contingent upon the third party contractor's schedule which may require working on-site over the weekends
Requirements

Inspectors must have knowledge of buried cable, underground conduit systems, building entrance design and inside plant design - Experience with general construction activities related to ductbank/vault installation (i.e. trenching, core drills, conduit installation, bedding, ring & covers, etc.)
- Knowledgeable of ISP pathway infrastructure (i.e. racking, core drill sleeves, innerduct, etc.)
- Must be able to pass background check requirements to obtain access to secure data center sites
- Must be able to read and understand construction prints for OSP & ISP telecom infrastructure
- Confined space experience. Knowledge of equipment used for confined space entry such as air sniffer, ventilation system, generator use, and sump pump
- Must be able to stand and withstand outdoor conditions for long periods of time
- Understanding of safe construction practices and have the ability to initiate stop work authority

Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to track, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to travel across multiple states for months at a time
- Attention to detail
- Problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to travel locally and overnight extensively
Desired Qualifications

Active Confined-Space Certification or willingness to obtain certification - Thorough knowledge of accepted telecommunication construction practices
- Thorough knowledge of conduit and buried cable placement and splicing methods
- Knowledge and experience with underground fiber optic systems
