Position Description
This position is responsible for supporting the mission, vision, and values of Lifebanc by developing and maintaining a positive donation culture within the assigned hospitals, coroners and medical examiners, thereby assisting in achieving donation goals. Develops, implements, and maintains commitment plans, analyzes and reports organ, tissue and eye (O/T/E) data and seeks strategies to improve in areas indicated. Develops and sustains relationships with referring physicians, nursing staff, hospital, coroners and medical examiners leadership and other staff to achieve performance goals. The Hospital Services II (HS) Coordinator may take on special projects as assigned by the Manager of Hospital Services and may be asked to assist other Hospital Services Coordinators and/or other departments with meetings between Lifebanc and key hospitals, coroners or medical examiners staff.

Educate and coach staff on organ and tissue donation process to optimize outcomes including conversion rate, OTPD, and number of donors (organ and tissue).

Essential Functions

- Design and conduct professional education programs to meet the needs of assigned hospitals, coroners and medical examiners.
- Collaborating with the Manager of Hospital Services and HS III to develop and implement plans to optimize hospital, coroners and medical examiners performance on an annual or as needed basis.
- Track results to monitor progress and modify plans if needed.
- Participate in monthly record review of missed opportunities for donation.
- Develop solutions to issues that impede the donation process.
- Conduct on-site evaluations of potential organ donors.
- Review hospital charts and current records of potential donors; document findings and follow up plans for hospital charts and coroner and medical examiners records.
- Create and customize professional education materials for informal and formal presentations, large and small audience educational forums, including slide and PowerPoint presentations, booklets, teaching tools, etc.
- Conducts individual/department meetings with key hospital, coroner and medical examiner staff members.
- Collaborates with key staff members in real-time on all active referrals and/or cases.
- Inputs all hospital related activity via Lifebanc Electronic Medical Records system (EMR).
- Composes and responds to all quality system occurrences via Lifebanc occurrence database.
- Work with hospital administration, coroners and medical examiner offices to review, revise, and/or create policies to ensure hospital compliance with state and federal statutes.
- Analyzes and responds to medical record review data.
- Provides information about hospital, coroners and medical examiners culture, critical issues, and donation champions, etc.
- Provides onsite response to all potential organ donor referrals within the specified timeframe.
- Collects and organizes donor information from hospital documentation and clinical staff.
- Compiles any past medical and/or social history.
- Works with system team to ensure support during active cases.
- Evaluates donor status and communicates results to the Administrator on Call.
- Collaborates with donor hospital staff and Family Support Coordinator (FSC) to provide real time coordination of authorization process.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4-5 years’ work experience in professional environment.
- Ability to assess situations and people and respond in a professional manner.
- Skill in presenting information to various audiences in an engaging and professional manner.
- Ability to initiate interpersonal interaction with hospital staff and develop ongoing positive relationships.
- Ability to adapt and be resilient in stressful situations.
