VCU Athletics is seeking a dynamic and experienced coach to assist our Women’s Lacrosse program, with a strong commitment to player development, competitive excellence, and the overall student-athlete experience.

Summary

The primary purpose of the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach is coaching and providing VCU Lacrosse student-athletes with high-level instruction in the sport of Lacrosse at the NCAA Division l level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas. Under the direction of the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, this position adheres to the VCU Athletics mission and core values by acting upon its goals and strategies.

Typical Duties

60% Coaching Essential Coaching and training student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas; and Video analysis and scouting of opponents. 25% Recruiting Essential Assist in the recruitment of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes; Assist with the maintenance of accurate files of prospective student-athletes; Assist with the evaluation of prospective student-athletes; and Assist with travel involved with recruitment.

10% Administrative Tasks Essential Assist with the maintenance of accurate files of current student-athletes; Assist with the maintenance of required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork; Assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes; and Assist with travel involved with practices and competition. 5% Other duties as assigned. Essential Other duties as assigned by the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach promote the execution of the Athletic Department's strategic plan by adhering to its mission and core values and acting upon its goals and strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred hiring standards include:

An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree;

Playing experience as a collegiate lacrosse athlete;

Experience recruiting and/or coaching women's lacrosse at the Division I collegiate level; and

Experience with recruiting and video match analysis software systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum hiring standards include:

A Bachelor's degree or training & experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree;

Knowledge of NCAA, A10, and University regulations regarding NCAA women's lacrosse;

Previous lacrosse coaching experience; and

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
